Messages per active day
Total messages divided by the days that had at least one — a better read on intensity than dividing by every day in the window.
A chat that ran hot for three months and then went silent for nine looks unremarkable if you divide its message count by 365 — the average gets diluted by months where nothing happened. Dividing by active days only counts the days something did happen, which is a fairer answer to "how intense is this conversation, really" than a whole-year average that treats silence as a soft version of the same conversation.
Example
3,000 messages over a year averages 8.2 a day — but if only 150 of those days had any activity, the real pace on the days that mattered was 20 messages a day.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as an "active" day?+
Any calendar day with at least one message from either person — a single "good morning" is enough to count the day.
How is this different from a streak?+
A streak needs consecutive active days; this doesn’t care about order, only the total count of days that had activity anywhere in the window.
